Children & Young People
Children and young people are at the core of our services. They were the inspiration and motivation for the Hub to be the project it is today and were actively involved in the design of the building.
There is a dedicated room for our young people, it is their space, owned by them, and is and integral part of the Hub. The room is vibrant and kitted out with games, technology, cooking and art facilities which support extra-curricular development and social inclusion for our dispersed young people.Prior to the Hub there were no extra-curricular opportunities for young people in our immediate locality.
Young people are continuously engaged in this space, consulted on existing and future services, ensuring that our delivery meets what they need, want and that it remains current.
The room is open every evening after school for use on an open access basis to secondary school age people and houses clubs and activities for all ages from birth through to secondary.
Our clubs and classes are split into pre-school, primary and secondary. All activities can be seen on our “What’s on” page. all clubs delivered for children and young people by the Hub are free with thanks to funders support and volunteers. Without them we could not offer these crucial opportunities which provides them with services enjoyed by their urban counterparts.
At the core of our services of Children and Young people is Safeguarding. It is our responsibility to ensure that all children and young people are kept safe from harm and to report any concerns. We do this through updating and keeping updated policies, procedures and their implimentation, staff and volunteering training. All staff and volunteers working with children and young people are PVG registered. The Designated Safeguarding Officer for the Hub is Hayley Bangs.
